We can achieve global elimination of diseases through a systematic campaign of vaccination. Regular and accurate measurement of vaccine administration is vital to track progress towards immunization goals and identify failing delivery systems. However, in the developing world current methods to assess vaccination coverage and disease lack accuracy due to reporting inflation, low participation, and significant costs associated with clinical examination.
Diagnostics For All has been awarded a grant by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop a low-cost, rapid diagnostic to test for successful vaccination against tetanus and measles. A simple, point-of-care immunity assessment assay will have immediate impacts on current global efforts to control vaccine-preventable diseases.
